Conceived as a study in water and light, this residence draws visual inspiration from the form of ship sails set within a lush jungle landscape. The architectural concept—“sails in the jungle”—is expressed through soft, flowing geometry and a layered spatial composition that evokes movement and openness.
Featured in Forbes in 2024, this project exemplifies how thoughtful, well-executed design—regardless of form or scale—consistently attracts interest and endures over time. Originally built in 2015, the structure is a refined dome residence inspired by the work of Steve Areen, whose original dome home concept in Thailand served as the foundation for this interpretation.
The Mimosas pays homage to a refined industrial Japanese influence, where simplicity, structure, and intentional framing guide the architectural design. Distinctive moon gate windows create circular sightlines from the bedroom to the balcony, directing the eye outward and fostering a sense of calm and spatial continuity.
Inspired by the form of the bird of paradise, this residence is defined by a dynamic roofline that evokes the image of a bird in flight, extending outward over the edge of the hillside. The design intent was to transform an inherently industrial structure into one that feels light, elevated, and in motion.
A soft white roof plane, reminiscent of clouds, contrasts with the grounded tones of the container elements, which are carefully selected to echo the surrounding mountain landscape. The result is a composition that balances strength and delicacy—allowing a substantially large structure to appear as though it is poised to take flight.
